Crossing the border by car between Romania and its neighbors to the west does no longer long queues and dealing with Romanian officials since Romania has become member of the European Union.

However, make sure you have the right insurance for the car. Insurance can be bought at any Romanian border crossing point. Also make sure you have the vehicle's registration, proof of insurance and a valid driver's license from your home country as these documents are required by Romanian authorities.
